Earth Tremor Strikes Binga

Earth Tremor Strikes Binga

An earthquake with a 4.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the Binga area in Matabeleland North on Wednesday morning.

Meteorological Services Department (MSD) head meteorologist James Ngoma told NewsDay that the epicentre of the earthquake was Binga. He said:

An earthquake of 4.2 a magnitude was felt in Binga around 5.15 am in the morning. There were no reports of damages to property, deaths or injuries.

Earth tremors are common in Binga and are a result of the earth’s crust’s response to the water load or weight of water in the Kariba dam.

But according to Plate Tectonics in Geography it says Continental Plates are heavier than Oceanic Plates, when they meet, Continental Plates folds beneath the Oceanic Plate, so you're confusing me🤔
