Cricket: Netherlands Sends South Africa Crashing Out Of The T20 World Cup

The Netherlands sent South Africa crashing out of the Twenty20 World Cup on Sunday with a stunning 13-run victory in Adelaide.

The result also propelled India into the semi-finals.

South Africa started on a jittery note with openers Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma out inside six overs with the score on 39.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Pakistan are fighting it out for the final spot in the last four.

Table-toppers India are on six points and play Zimbabwe in Melbourne in the final match of Sunday’s triple header, the result of which will decide the final Super 12 standings and who faces whom in the semis.

Defending champions Australia Sunday failed to make the Twenty20 World Cup semi-finals, with local media calling for the fallout to be “fast and brutal”

A huge 89-run loss to New Zealand first-up and a loss to England took three points off their tally.

They finished equal on seven points with England and New Zealand in Group 1 but were knocked out due to an inferior run rate.

It was only the fourth time in the past 30 years that Australia have not progressed into the semi-finals of a World Cup in any format.
