ZIMBABWEANS MUST REMAIN FOCUSED ON STOPPING THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS OMICRON.

WE ARE NOW TOLD THAT THERE IS A NEW VARIANT CALLED OMICRON WHICH WAS FIRST DISCOVERED IN SOUTH AFRICA. A FEW DAYS AGO OUR HEALTH MINISTER HELD A PRESS CONFERENCE WHERE HE ASSURED PEOPLE THAT ZIMBABWE HAD DONE ITS HOMEWORK AND WE WERE SAFE FROM THE NEW VARIANT.

BUT LOOKING AT TODAY'S FIGURES ONE REALISES THAT WE ARE NOT SAFE FROM OMICRON VARIANT. A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE DISCOVERY OF OMICRON IN SOUTH AFRICA, WE WERE REGISTERING IN THE REGION OF 30 NEW CASES DAILY. TODAY IT HAS JUMPED TO 235 NEW CASES PER DAY. THIS SHOWS THAT WE ARE NOW LIVING WITH THE NEW VARIANT. IT IS ONLY THAT OUR SCIENTISTS HAVE NOT YET DISCOVERED THAT WE ARE LIVING WITH THE VARIANT.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE ARE NOT SAFE FROM OMICRON VARIANT. LET US WEAR MASKS, KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCING, WASH HANDS AND SANITISE OURSELVES. OF ALL THE ABOVE, LET US GET VACCINATED.

INI NDINI, IWE NDIWE.

YOURS TRULY
