Chinese Acupuncture Clinic Opens

The renovated Zimbabwe-China Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Centre opened its doors last week.

Acupuncture is a system of integrative medicine that involves pricking the skin or tissues with needles, used to alleviate pain and treat various physical, mental, and emotional conditions.

Officiating at the launch of the facility and training course for the first batch of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture students on Friday, Ministry of Health and Child Care Permanent Secretary Dr Jasper Chimedza said:

Zimbabwean practitioners will benefit from the training by broadening their skill set to include traditional Chinese medicine services such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and cupping.

This project will also help in understanding traditional Chinese medicine and its implementation.

Traditional Chinese medicine plays a key complementary role in the treatment of a variety of conditions such as pain, respiratory diseases, neurological diseases, and others.

Zimbabwe and China signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of traditional medicine in 2020 and each year, the Asian country sends a medical team to Zimbabwe that also includes practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine.
