CCC Responds To Minister Moyo's Decree On Council Structures

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has described as “illegal” and a” violation of the constitution”, a decree by Local Government Minister July Moyo to the effect that local authorities’ leadership structures will remain unchanged even after the 26 March by-elections. Suspended Harare Mayor, Advocate Jacob Mafume said the move is meant to promote corrupt activities. Flanked by CCC deputy spokesperson Ostallos Siziba at a presser this Friday, Mafume said the ruling ZANU PF was working in connivance with opposition MDC-T led by Senator Douglas Mwonzorar to promote corruption and fatten the pockets of some political elites. He said CCC members were chosen to serve the people and they can do that when they are on committees, not by being “spectators.” He said they will challenge the decree. There goes July Moyo again.
For your own information Horrible Monster, all it takes is a simple Council resolution to dissolve and reconstitute Council committees. Likewise a council has the right to call for a vote of no confidence in a mayor and elect another.

Zvako zvekuda kuchengeta zv****sungata zvaNzvonyora hazviite. Besides all those so-called MDC-T councillors and MPs are dyed in the wool CCC people who kept their heads below the parapet to avoid being recalled.

Watch debate in councils and Parliament from now on and see if anyone will take directive from Nzvonyora anymore.

As long as the law remains as it is at the moment, we will always see what we are now witnessing where Minister MOYO wants to protect the status quo, thus frustrating CCC as a Political Party. In other words Minister MOYO is barring CCC councillors from assuming mayorship posts. According to MOYO's warped thinking if CCC takes the moyorship post, he will emplement CCC policies. I propose that the law be amended so that whoever is the president picks the Minister of Local Government from the Political Party which will have won in more towns and cities. In such arrangement, such Minister will attend Cabinet meetings and emplement cabinet decisions. We will continue to experience these scenarios which Minister MOYO is playing.
