CCC Refutes Chamisa, Mnangagwa Secret GNU Talks Report

CCC Refutes Chamisa, Mnangagwa Secret GNU Talks Report

The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has dismissed as false a report by an online news publication that the party’s leader Nelson Chamisa is involved in secret coalition talks with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said Chamisa is not in secret talks with Mnangagwa for a government on national unity (GNU).

Mahere said CCC is ready to dialogue with ZANU PF on political and electoral reforms to prevent another disputed election. She posted on Twitter:

These are outright lies… President [Nelson chamisa] is not in secret talks with [President Mnangagwa] about a GNU or anything else.

We’ve publicly said we’re ready to dialogue with Zanu PF about REFORMS to avoid another disputed election. Not this.

The report claimed Mnangagwa and Chamisa are engaged in secret talks with the aim of forming a seven-year GNU.

It also quoted a source as saying ZANU PF is being represented in the talks by its secretary for finance, Patrick Chinamasa while CCC is being represented by Gorden Moyo. A source was quoted as saying:

Preliminary talks are indeed underway and both parties appear to be eager to have an arrangement that can work.

The groundwork was actually laid down last year. There was a time when Chamisa met with some senior government officials and confided with them that he was interested in an arrangement that can postpone elections for seven years and intelligence people took that in the form of a recording to ED (Mnangagwa), who was excited about it and went on to give Chinamasa the task to lead the talks.

So, I can tell you with certainty that there have been meetings between representatives of the two leaders, but they have been held in deep secrecy.

The report quoted another source as saying the results of the 26 March by-elections shocked both sides because they ate into each other’s territories. Said the source:

The March 26 by-elections were mainly used to showcase capabilities and to test the waters. The result was shocking to both sides because they ate into each other’s territories.

There were some people in ZANU PF who actually did not want the by-elections to happen but ED insisted he wanted them because they would be useful to gauge the atmosphere and decide whether or not to proceed with elections next year.

There is general consensus in the party that these polls were a rude awakening because they did not anticipate Chamisa would be so popular. Most of the top people in the party now want the GNU.

As for Chamisa, the idea was to showcase himself as a formidable optician and the good showing in the by-elections gave him the necessary pedestal for talks.

He dearly wanted those elections to show ED that he has people and can actually win the elections next year.

The report, however, admitted that Chamisa did not confirm the alleged talks when contacted for a comment. Chamisa said:

We know for sure Zanu PF does not want elections. They are terrified by-elections.

GNU is the way to go coz economy yashata iyi even if we win next year, there is no guarantee kuti mukoma anogona kupinda pa state House. Ngavataure vakuru shuwa. I know and trust Chamisa will opt for that coz vanhu vatambura nema Sanctions.

I agree with you MUROZVI because GNU infringes the Constitution. There is no talk of GNU in our Constitution. After that referendum Parliament then goes to debate it and make it. lawful.

I think to avoid these GNUs for selfish ends, these should go for referendum to see what the people want. These must not be for the political elite only.

I think you, WORZELL CUMMIDGE, are trading on a wrong thread. We can not say these talks are taking place for sure. The article explicitly say the writer is also not sure. CCC spokesperson denied that there were GNU talks. Therefore it is immature to lambast CCC. On accepting supporters from ZANU PF, you are offside. Supporters are recruited from anywhere as long as he/she is a zimbabwean. On reading in between the lines one would conclude that you are a fake CCC supporter. VOTE CCC FOR REAL CHANGE.

The Supersonic Boy, aka Chamisa, is already in bed with Khupe. He even insists that Zanu Pf people can also join his party. So it comes as no surprise that he might be having secret talks for a GNU with the Geriatrics. Thus far everything about the CCC has been his personal secret & everything revolves around him. Even the CCC supporters have no clue as to what his true intentions are. CCC supporters are just blind followers with no minds of their own. Anyway, a GNU is the best way to go in Zimbabwe. Even if the CCC wins, the ZEC, the military, the CIO, Police, the Judiciary & every other captured institution will block the Boy from assuming power. Power sharing is the only option for CCC. Otherwise Zanu Pf can go it alone vanhu vachi bongomora nenhamo.

Khupe joined CCC as an ordinary members, and Zanu pf members can also join CCC, this means anyone can defect from any part to join the Citizens, there is nothing wrong with accommodating Khupe or ex-Zanu supporters; that is how you grow your party and a party is not a liberty to be choosing its supporters, especially when it wants to win.

Normally such talks are done in top secrecy and revealed only when the time is ripe. Therefore it is difficult to comment conclusively. However, ADVOCATE NELSON CHAMISA is on record saying he was not interested in a GNU government. It is true that ZANU PF and CCC were testing waters in the byelections. It would seem ADVOCATE DOUGLAS TAGARASEYI MWONZORA had committed to destroying CHAMISA and his CCC. ADVOCATE NELSON CHAMISA wanted to show his supremacy as the most supported opposition political party. ZANU PF wanted to know if they had gained ground over CCC in urban areas. They now know where each of them stand. The talk of a GNU between CCC and ZANU PF is now possible. The GNU matrix does not involve MDC T. It is dead and burried. VOTE CCC FOR REAL CHANGE.
