CCC MPs Job Sikhala And Godfrey Sithole Denied Bail

A Harare deputy chief magistrate Gibson Mandaza has denied bail to Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Members of Parliament (MPs), Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole.
He remanded the duo in custody to July 6. Their lawyers will launch an urgent appeal at the High Court
Magistrate Mandaza said Sikhala and Sithole are “a threat to public security” and likely to re-offend if released on bail.
Mandaza ruled that Sikhala had already disregarded a High Court order that barred him from using Social Media.
The duo was arrested last week on allegations of inciting public violence. This was after the eruption of violence during the funeral wake of slain CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali, which involved CCC and ZANU PF supporters.

Responding to the development, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said Zimbabwe needs new leaders for it to be transformed into a society that promotes and values human freedoms. She said:
The more I see injustice, the more I’m fortified in the need to ensure we win Zimbabwe for change. Freedom, fairness, opportunity and personal security. Job and Godfrey are innocent. It’s not a crime to demand justice for an abducted, murdered citizen. We need new leaders.
Pedzisai Ruhanya, academic, journalist and political commentator said should just approach the courts with already prepared High Court appeals “on these political matters because the decisions are predictable.”
