Bulawayo: All Council Charges Translated To The USD Value

Bulawayo: All Council Charges Translated To The USD Value

Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has told residents and ratepayers that all charges have been converted to United States dollars (USD) due to the collapse of the Zimbabwean dollar. In a statement seen by Pindula News, the local government authority said prices of inputs required for service provision had gone up hence the review. Reads the statement:

PUBLIC NOTICE: – ALIGNMENT OF TARIFF CHARGES TO THE CURRENT ECONOMIC CONDITIONS.

The City of Bulawayo wishes to advise its valued stakeholders, residents and customers that due to prevailing economic conditions such as changes in the exchange rate there have been substantial increases in the prices of key service delivery inputs namely fuel, water & wastewater treatment chemicals, medicines, stationery & spare parts among others.

This has rendered the current Council charges inadequate thereby necessitating an urgent alignment of tariffs to input costs in order to alleviate service delivery collapse.

Residents are advised that all Council charges have been translated to the USD value on the date of approval of the 2022 budget. The tariffs shall be translated at the ruling rate on the date of billing with effect from 1 June 2022.

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to contact Council Revenue offices for the updated charges on their properties. For billing and bill payment assistance you can call or contact us on the following:

The problem is the valueless Zim dollar and our useless government. If rtgs is not working why do you wanna pay council with mari isingashandi. BCC is trying to provide quality service delivery

citizenry 2 weeks ago

let us elect a council that is innovative b, like long ago ,councils could generate revenue selling liquor ,stands, etc. Why did that stop ? please take off this burden from the ratepayer only.
resort to the basics , how councils used to function well without burdening citizens , surely you can do the same .

bulawayo cc is being realistic unless u do not want services. except for salaries almost every cost rises with the fall of the rtgs. its govt thats being deliberately blind to this reality.

COME ON SERIOUSLY were are those who stand for the people, the majority who are earning ZWL rtgs.
Why does the government allow some authority to charge the poulace in forex while, the majority has rtgs savings accounts earn in Zim dollars.

This has to be banned until and unless all companies pays it's employees in forex.
It's a violation of human rights at another angle, prices are pegged at USD in the shops while they is a secularization of ZWL bond notes.
How will the majority survive while even local authorities are now billing in used,we haven't dollarized yet of which the high table is saying
they won't be dollarize.
It doesn't make sense, how can you majority we won't carry umbrellas for the rains, but the authority is the one opening the flood gates.
Alas
who is speaking for the voiceless now 🤷,where are those?,who once have been heard saying "I will stand for you,if vote me" 🤔

Why is it we want to run away from the 🔥,and yet still heading to a place with boiling water.
