Biti's Challenger "Bravely Working Towards Development Of Our Society & Economy"

Precious Nyaradzo Musarurwa, a 39-year-old Zimbabwean actress, film writer, businesswoman and animal husbandry entrepreneur, says she is vying for the Harare East parliamentary seat.

The seat fell vacant when Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) vice president, Tendai Biti, was recalled by the PDP, a party he formed in 2013.

Musarurwa, who tried her hand as a young girl within pageantry and was crowned Miss Kwekwe 2003, and was in 2004 one of the Miss Zimbabwe semi-finalists, says she is ready to contest against the former Finance Minister.

Musarurwa says she has already started contributing towards the emancipation of the young people of Zimbabwe whom she says have been victims of poor governance.

In 2019, Precious was one of the pioneers of the Citizens-Anti Corruption Taskforce, a movement whose aim is to find common ground in the fight against corruption in Zimbabwe.

She also said it is painful to see young girls being married off to very old men, “old enough to be their grandparents,” with little to no action being taken against them. Precious cites the case of Anna Machaya, a 14-year-old girl who died at a Marange shrine from labour related complications.

Besides being a human rights advocate, Precious is into humanitarian work, efforts that saw the Netherlands Dutch Embassy awarding her a Gender Champion award in 2021.

Musarurwa has written film scripts like ‘The Small House Saga’, and ZBCtv ‘s VivaWenera. She is a Lead Actress in ZBCtv’s Justice drama series.

Precious Musarurwa who rose to prominence when she featured in ZBCtv‘s soapie opera ‘The Small House Saga’ in 2007 is currently the Secretary-General for LEAD, a party led by Linda Masarira, a former MDC-T spokesperson.
