Anglican Church Asks Govt For More Land To Construct Schools

The Anglican Church Diocese of Manicaland has asked for more land from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government to build church-run schools.

Speaking in an interview with NewsDay on Sunday, 24 April, Bishop Eric Ruwona said the Anglican Church has a rich history of running schools in Zimbabwe. He said:

We have a rich history of running schools and we are happy that we have a government interested in infrastructure development.

We are ready to partner and we are pleading with the government to give us land so that we can help it to build schools after announcing it has a backlog of 3 000 schools.

The clergyman expressed satisfaction with how the Anglican Church-run schools performed in the 2021 Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council Ordinary and Advanced level examinations. He said:

l am a proud head of the church, thanks to our education development as our schools performed well at the Ordinary and Advanced levels 2021 result.

Our schools did very well, we have St Faith, St Augustine and St David Bonda High school among others.

The schools really raised the church’s flag very high and we want to thank our teachers and headmasters for their sterling work.

Bishop Ruwona denied allegations that church-run schools are excluding marginalised and poor children saying the claims are totally opposite of what the church does.

Pay your workers a living wage before you start thinking of building a school.

They give damn slave wages to the employees of the churches they lead.

The Clergy is selfish and egoistic. Non of them holds true value for the office they represent.

Put the clergy under spotlight please.

With the advent of e-learning, schools are bound to be white elephants in the not so distant future. Gvt must prioritize investing in e-education infrastructure.

@maravaza your point is vercrucial
but elearning wont substitutr the erecting of infrastructure NEVER
especially in field of sciences, agriculture, technics they need classrooms to execute their practicals
each facult must have offices, classroms etc
plus remember this is Africa we are 3million miles behind

That would be great but our government mainly priorities 2 sectors, namely the security sector and the mining sector.

I AM ON AN ANGLICAN CHURCH, OF ALL CHURCH-RUN SCHOOLS. ANGLICAN IS THE WORST, NO HAND IN BUILDING CLASSROOM BLOCKS OR TEACHER'S HOUSES.
THE CHURCH ONLY COLLECT TITHE AND THAT TITHE IS GOES TO THE DIOCESE. THE CHURCH ITSELF IS BUILD BY POOR PARENTS AND WELL-WISHERS. REMEMBER THIS CHURCH HAS A REPRESENTATIVE IN UK HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT BUT IS VERY POOR. THE CHURCH IS A POST-NEOCOLONISER. IT CONNIVES WITH THE COUNCIL RUN SCHOOL HEAD IF HE IS AN ANGLICAN FOLLOWER AND THE COMMUNITY VILLAGE HEADS TO CHANGE COUNCIL-RUN SCHOOLS INTO ANGLICANS SO THAT THEY GET THEIR FUNDING THROUGH TITHE COLLECTION.
THEY ARE POLITICAL PROSTITUTES
