Mai Sorobhi’s daughter, Martha Mtembe, also confirmed the development in an interview with this reporter. She said:
Mhamha (Mai Sorobhi) vakambostroka (mom had a stroke) some four or five years ago and she had recovered. She then suffered another one recently which has now claimed her life.
Asked about funeral arrangements, Martha said they were waiting for senior family members to arrive.
Mai Sorobhi, as she was popularly known, suffered a stroke in early 2019 and her condition deteriorated due to her not getting physio sessions until a well-wisher came to her rescue to assist in that regard.
She rose to prominence in the early 1990s with the drama series ‘Paraffin’ which made her a household name.
