7 Years Later, Itai Dzamara's Whereabouts Not Known

Zimbabwean journalist, Itai Dzamara, was allegedly kidnapped by suspected state security agents on the 9th of March in 2015, his whereabouts are not known since then.

There have been calls from human rights defenders and the international community on the government to make sure that Dzamara is safely brought back since it is its sole responsibility to protect every Zimbabwean citizen.

In a message to mark the 7th anniversary since Dzamara disappeared, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) said the government must ensure that assailants who kidnapped the journalist are brought to justice. They said:

Today marks the 7th anniversary of the disappearance of Itai Dzamara. We call on government to mobilise the full extent of its resources to investigate the circumstances surrounding Dzamara’s abduction and to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. Dzamara’s family and the generality of Zimbabweans deserve answers on where he is, what happened on 9 March 2015 and who is responsible for his disappearance. We remind government of its constitutional obligations to safeguard the right to life and personal liberty, the right to participate in peaceful political activities, the right to demonstrate and petition peacefully and the citizens’ right to express themselves freely and without repercussion.

Dzamara was a staunch government critic.

My friend @Tkt, your support of trampling on human rights is disgusting and disgraceful. In democratic countries politicians are liable to be pelted with rotten eggs- that is the price they pay for being politicians. In this country it is a crime to criticise the president (a mere politician) and yet the president insults other citizens with impunity.

Your theory yekuti opportunists abduct critics to tarnish the government image is hogwash. If that were true the police and CIO would have quickly investigated and apprehended the culprits. Damage control is what they are very good at.
We have heard of these shenanigans of accusing Biti, Mamombe etc. taking abductions and all - the regime's answer to their own machinations.

Please give us a break

As to your assertion that nothing is special about Dzamara, well, I say one political assassination is one too many. Last week it was Ncube in Kwekwe. In 2018 August we had people murdered for voicing dissent. In January 2019 people died for protesting against fuel increases...

And you condone brutality and murder..
".. hapana nyaya apa. Akafa akafa... nothing special..."

You have no respect for human life
Shame on you

Inasmuch as i value life, this call is USELESS. Why, bcoz ...
1-- no one was identified to have picked him up
2-- suspects are said to be suspected state agents, what if someone in itai's circles chose to murder him hiding as state agents?
3-- is the any video footage produced which may be used to try and determine the identity of the said assailants?
4-- any photograph shot by anyone at the scene to also assist
5-- YES it is GVT duty to safeguard its ppl but how many have been murdered were all murderd by state agents?

zvimwe zvacho zvinoda kuona kuti is there a little evidence for forencic investigations to begin with

Good questions, but no answers!!!!

One more question please....

If Chin'ono were to disappear today, who would be the CHIEF suspect?

Ditto Itai Dzamara.

If there were Prophets like e biblical Simon peter,Paul,Daniel and many more. That cld have been easier to track our beloved brother' s where about .unfortunately today we have money mongers ,who can only spell what is in someone's pocket ,the magicians like Simon magus. Its very hard to believe them with their actions don't correlate to the Bible. If one is to take a look into prescription of e Bible there were thousands and thousands of false prophets deceiving people by performing miracles.

Respect and honor are two different things.Prophet Daniel respected King Nebuchadnezzar but he never honored him, instead he honored the living God by worshipping him and asked for revelations therefore after the great manifestation of the truth King Nebuchadnezzar was humbled by God via the Prophet Daniel and in return the King feared the God of Daniel and also honored Daniel by positioning on high office.
My point gentleman is, Prophets do have a role in politics they are obliged to send a living massage to earthly leadership, convey the truth and judge of leaders with no fear or favor like what Prophet Elijah to Ahab..

Mark 3 months ago

Many prophets in the Bible also spoke out against evil kings and governments. We're obliged to respect them but it doesn't mean We're obligated to like them neither follow every law they make as some of them oppose God.

Tariro 3 months ago

The Bible instructs us to respect all authority on earth and in heaven because it exists by the will of God. So you can not expect a prophet who knows the Bible to fight for someone who is opposing God. That's impossible.
